Judy's Tree Skirt

made by Judy Kriehn

One year for Christmas, I made all of the cousins and their spouses Christmas tree skirts. Judy Mack, owner of The Fabric Affair, saw the one I made for my cousin Karen, and begged me to make one for her.

Well, it took a lot of cajoling, as doing quilt-piecing type techniques with antisocial fabrics like taffeta and tissue lame is NOT a pretty sight. But, a year later, it was finally done, and done in time to grace the Mack family tree.

Fabrics used are red/green plaid taffeta, a solid green taffeta, and gold tissue lame. The fabric is cut in long strips, then pieced together on an offset. Then, the whole thing is sliced and diced on the diagonal using the 9 degree wedge ruler developed by Marilyn Doheny.
