Have a "Show and Tell" to Share?"

Those of us who stash more fabric than we sew, are always excited when a UFO (UnFinished Object) becomes an "FO" - whether it is ourselves who finish it or somebody else. We'd love to share your "FO's" with our site visitors. Here's what we need to get your work "online."

  • Photos of the Finished Project.
    • If you have access to a digital camera or a scanner and can email us files, save them in "JPG" format. All internet photos come up at 72 dpi - so don't worry about doing 1000dpi scans. Won't work. If you only know how to scan but have no clue what dpi they are coming up, don't worry about that - we'll fix it when we get them. It's just that the higher the dpi, the larger the file will be and the longer it will take to email.
    • If you can't email us the files, mail us prints at the store address on the main page of the site. If you would like the photos returned, it would be helpful if you include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
    • If you don't have access to a camera of any kind but can bring your finished project to the store for "show and tell", call us in advance to be sure that the digital camera is at the store and someone is there who knows how to use it, then come on in!
    • The kinds of photos that we find are most interesting to look at include not only a full-view to get the overall effect, but closeups to show the details. You know - that special stitch you used to embellish the hem, those funky buttons you found for the closure, the wonderful fabric you chose for the quilt, etc.
  • A "Title" for the Work
    • It doesn't have to be anything deep and meaningful - just something to top the page with.
    • If you don't give it a title, we will - and you might think it's pretty lame.
  • A Description of The Project

Some examples of questions you could ask yourself to decide
what information you'd like visitors to know about the project:

    • Was this made for someone special? For a special occasion?
    • What was the inspiration for the project?
    • Did you use any unusual notions for the first time that you'd like to recommend?
    • Have you ever done a project like this before?
    • What kind of sewing machine did you use?
    • If you could do this differently, what would you change?
    • Did you enjoy this so much you are ready to do a clone?

We look forward to seeing your contributions to the "Show and Tell" section of the site. Our site gets visited regularly by sewists from around the world, from all over the United States to as far away as Australia. Next to the free embroidery downloads, the show and tell section is one of the most popular parts of the site.
